I’ve been busy

Since it’s been months since I’ve posted anything, I just wanted to resurface to verify that I am not dead, not at all.

I’m working on the Jesse stories, and I did think I’d have them done months ago, but I’ve been prioritizing a lot of other projects instead. See, I had this idea I’d write something a bit more commercially viable than the GQ books, but I’m beginning to think that’s just not something I can do. Everything I touch turns to weird.

I’ve written at least 500K of various projects since putting out ACAT/AFC, so I’ve kept busy. Whether it’ll amount to anything is unclear, but at least I’m working.

Anyway, if you’ve been waiting for Jesse stories, I won’t promise anything, but springtime doesn’t seem like an unreasonable goal.

newsletter and Charles/Simon story

The newsletter, as such, with a link to A Rich Man’s Privilege, went out to the mailing list on 12/24. If you got it, I hope you enjoyed it.

I believe I’ve got things set up now so new subscribers get sent a link to the story upon confirming their subscription. If this isn’t the case, please let me know.

If you subscribed but didn’t get my “Happy Holidays” email, please check your spam folder. If it’s not there, let me know and I’ll get the story to you. In retrospect, I probably should have titled the email something more like “Here’s That Story You Wanted” so it would be less spam-like. I’ll keep that in mind for next time I send something out :D

GQ Book 4 progress/status

When I started publishing the GQ books, I didn’t know what I was doing. I still don’t, really. But I thought I basically had four finished books, and I thought I could put one out every three months. It really seemed reasonable! I wanted to be done by mid-June for reasons. But A Willful Romantic (GQ Book 3) took four months, which meant I only had two months to finish Book 4, which is the longest one, and needed the most retrofitting and work, and that simply didn’t happen.

It’s really important to me to finish this project (or at least the main part of it) and not be interrupted or go off on tangents, so I changed some plans, and I’m giving myself the full three months to finish. I’m hoping to put out A Collar and Tie (GQ Book 4) and the as-yet-untitled Martin story out in mid-July.

And someday I’ll have time to figure out how to format print books :)

Book 3 coming SOON

I had said A Willful Romantic (GQ Book 3) would be out mid-March, and I LIED, because it is now the downslope of March and I don’t have a book for you, and I know there are a few of you who are looking forward to it (and I love you for it), so I’m sorry for the delay. It is almost ready, though, and I am really excited to share this one, because I think it is the most fun so far. If you’ve enjoyed the first two, I’m pretty sure you’ll love AWR.  Oh, and there’s a Martin story, too, of course.

I have certain unavoidable demands on my time in what remains of March, and I’m waiting on another person (whose patience I have certainly taxed), so I don’t know if I’ll finish up before the end of the month, but it won’t be much longer than that. THANK YOU for your patience.  I still plan to put out the fourth book in June :)

so many things I like in one scene

Because I’m interested in Victoriana and pulpy stories, I was watching Penny Dreadful anyway, but then this happened:

Really, this could turn into the Dorian-and-Ethan show from this point forward, and I would be very content. Forget about the other story lines. Forget about the rest of the characters. Well, except for Vanessa. Vanessa can stay and watch if she wants.
